China launches public reward scheme for rare earth export control violations

Beijing announced measures on Wednesday to incentivise public reporting of breaches in rare earth and strategic mineral export controls. On the same day, Tokyo confirmed that 2 Japanese nationals had been detained in China over alleged attempts to smuggle rare earth-related goods out of the country.
